Furch

Furch is a Czech premium acoustic builder whose modern catalog is unusually easy to decode once you understand the Color Series and body/wood abbreviations. Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, Rainbow and Vintage tell you far more than an unfamiliar “F” headstock might at first glance.

IDENTIFY YOUR GUITAR

Which Furch do you have?

Furch model names are designed to be decoded. Read the full designation, then use the company decoder to translate series, body, tonewood letters, cutaway/electronics and production-era details.

  1. Start with the Color or Vintage series. Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow and Red form the main ladder; Rainbow is custom-oriented and Vintage uses its own tiering.
  2. Decode the body letters. D = dreadnought, G = Grand Auditorium, OM = Orchestra Model, OOM = smaller orchestra format, RS = round shoulder and additional variants exist.
  3. Decode the wood letters. Furch’s decoder maps letters such as C, E, A and others to specific top woods; use the exact instrument entry rather than guessing.
  4. Check CNR / electronics / version suffixes. Recent models may include CNR System Active and pickup packages that distinguish otherwise similar-looking guitars.

  2. Check the neck, action, frets, bridge and overall structural condition.
  3. Test electronics, pickups, switches, controls, output jack and onboard preamp when equipped.
  4. Look for cracks, bridge lifting, battery leakage, missing hardware or previous repairs.
  5. Compare the exact or closely related model with current retail and recent used-market evidence.

Search the complete Furch model string whenever possible. “Blue” alone can still cover different body shapes, woods, pickups and production versions.

HISTORY & COMMENTARY

A garage-built Czech guitar story that became a premium export brand

František Furch began building instruments because quality guitars were difficult to obtain in socialist Czechoslovakia. In 1981 he started a one-person workshop; the company later expanded into the historic mill at Velké Němčice and remains a Czech builder.

Modern Furch emphasizes individual soundboard voicing, its CNR neck system and thin resonance-oriented finishes. For the directory, the useful point is not the marketing language but the structure: the series ladder and decoder make it possible to identify an unfamiliar instrument with unusual precision.
